As a former professional dancer, I came across a lot of yogic movement as part of my conditioning/training. In those introductory years I found enjoyment in the shapes as they helped to open my body for the work I was doing. Though it wasn’t until 2011 that I discovered a deeper connection to the practice after sustaining a low back & hip injury. Dealing with physical limitations and pain in a body that was accustomed to mobility and power was incredibly frustrating. Through yoga, for the first time in my life I was asked to investigate how my inside world (core beliefs, feelings, thoughts) might be affecting my behavior patterns. Mind blown, heart open, and body changing, I began to notice shifts. Without fully understanding what was changing, I found myself getting more curious about the many facets of the practice. Flash forward I've completed two 200hr trainings as well as certifications in Yin, Yoga Sculpt, Barre Fitness, and TRX. Nothing brings me more joy than to be in a learning setting, and I continue to seek more education along this path. ODD is such a special place in that it allows me to be both student and teacher.
HOMETOWN: Oxnard, CA
FAVORITE ARTIST/SONG: I love female singers of all varieties: Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Nai Palm, Yukimi Nagano, Brittany Howard, Jessie Mueller.
ODD FACT: I have a deep curiosity for the history of humans and the need to create art. I LOVE MUSEUMS! And make it a point to visit as many as I can upon my travels.
MY STEEZ: Come to my class for a workshop-y approach to alignment, stability, and mobility. Life is glorious in the way it offers a full spectrum of experiences. Highs, lows, and in-betweens. The practice illuminates our internal reactions to external experiences. Cue my love for a physical (but really a mental) challenge. Expect to sweat. Expect some dharma. My hope is that you leave feeling lighter and at peace. At the end of the day, we do this stuff to be better versions of ourselves, One Down Dog at a time.
